Wind Gamelan
Socrates Sculpture
Park LIC Queens NYC 1993 Installation of 5 wind-driven sculptures tuned to the scale of Indonesian gamelans. Each plays one note. Visitors hear ringing overtones from many directions. The order and duration of tones are activated by wind speed and direction. The sculptures are mounted on bearings and vanes direct them into the wind. Installations at Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria (1987), ArtPark, Lewiston, NY (1988) and Pulse 2 Exhibition at U. of California, Santa Barbara (1990) and Socrates Sculpture Park. Each 16' x 4'x 4'. |

NY 1991 A listening device for water sounds installed in Otego, NY. Stereo pipes direct sounds from the water's surface to the listeners' ears. Each pipe is approximately 18' long. Fabricated of aluminum. |

Akron Antennas
Akron
University, Akron Ohio1990 Sixteen different antenna-like structures mounted on light poles along the Commons of the University of Akron campus in Ohio. The sculptures vane into the wind and incorporate bells as sound elements. Each antenna is approximately 5' X 4' X 1' and fabricated of aluminum tubing and mylar.

The Big Wave

st. & Ave B Garden NYC 1997 270 foot fence composed of laser cutouts of community garden members' hands on the Lower East Side of New York City. The hands are a gesture of protection for the garden and a Big Wave to the neighborhood. Fabricated of steel and stainless steel.

Wind Reeds Pratt Campous Brooklyn NY 1999 Outdoor installation at the Neuberger Museum Biennial exhibition on the SUNY campus in Purchase, NY. Five reeds with wind bells tilt and rotate depending upon direction and speed of wind. Exhibition open through Oct. 22, 1999.To be installed at Pratt Campus Brooklyn NYC in the spring of 2000. |
