Sound Engine Cincinati Contemporary Arts Center 1989

Sound installation created which incorporates sculptural configurations of parabolic dishes and cones as sound stations with speakers. The sonic compositions are digitized sounds triggered by motion detectors and are comprised of electronic constructions in combination with a collage of environments from around the works. The work interacts with the viewer and with the space in which it is installed by reflecting its sonic qualities. Aluminum, steel, lights, electronics. Room size installation: approximately 25' X 30'.

 


Wave Magnet Thread Waxing Space1992

Radio compositions heard on FM headset receivers as the participant moves around a shortwave radio. Sounds are individually triggered by motion sensors and stored on a computer-controlled digital sampler.

Portable touring installation using a rotating shadow wheel, infrared detectors and computerized electronics which creates sonic pathways that can be explored by the participant

Participatory sound work with treadle sewing machine, crystal radio, propeller and taped sounds of trains and environmental sounds heard on headphones connected to radio when treadle is in motion.
