Adamsville Music Pavilion, 2003

A gathering place for musical interaction and a space for investigating acoustic phenomena at the Adamsville Recreation Center in Atlanta, GA. Sound waves radiate from the vibrating musical instruments and reflect from the parabolic roof overhead. Bells on the rooftop spire are activated by the wind.

There are three kinds of stainless steel drums in the pavilion. The Afro-Cuban conga family comprised of Tumba, Conga and Quinto (free standing drums), The African Djembe Family (seats), and the North African Dumbek family (tables).

Commissioned by the City of Atlanta Department of Cultural Affairs.
