Clover Park: 2000

Aviation themed enhancements for a children's playground located on the edge of Clover Airfield in Santa Monica, CA. Designed in collaboration with the architectural firm Rios Associates and commissioned by the City of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division.

Children can climb into an observation tower via a spiral staircase, observe the park through a binocular viewer and direct takeoffs and landing on the bike/trike "runway" beneath the tower through interconnected speaking/ listening tubes. Youngsters awaiting takeoff can perch on a Flight Seat in the shape of a boomerang or explore the painted graphics of kites, birds, planes and insects on concrete seating pads.

Stainless steel sculptures fabricated by Patrick Fitz-Gerald
